How to Manage Input Forms

To manage input forms go to the Input Form Manager after selecting a project.

You can get there with the link above or you can:

  1. Click on inputInput Forms on the left most sidebar
  2. Underneath it you should now see settingsManage. Click it.
  3. You are now on the Input Form Management Screen

Basic Properties

Name and Description

Every Input from has a name this show up in a few places:

You can change the name in 2 ways.

  1. Click the edit button at the bottom of a input from tile on the Input Form Manage Screen
  2. Click on the tile to go into the Input Form Editor and change it on the right sidebar where it says ▼Form Name

Layout

Layouts are different devices and orientations. Do you want to build this form for a phone? A tablet? Horizontal or Vertical? RLD supports many layouts and devices. You can find the option to change your layout in the Input Editor on the right sidebar under ▼Layouts

Background Color

You may want the background color of your app to change depending on use or user preference.

You can find the option to change the background color of your form in the Input Editor on the right sidebar under ▼Layouts

How to Create a Form

To create a form, do one of the following:

  1. Go to the left sidebar and find "Input Forms", click it, then click "Add Input Form".
  2. Find the button below in the Input Manager and click it
    • Add New Form

How to Edit My Form

To edit a form do one of the following:

  1. Go to the left sidebar and find "Input Forms", click it, then click "Manage".
  2. Find the form you want to edit and click on the middle of the tile.

Edit Button on Tile

The edit button on the tile allows you to change the Name and Description which will be seen by you and anyone you share the project with.

Enabled/Disabled

Enabled

Enabling a form makes it show up on the RLD Input App. This means when you go to use the form, or others you've shared it with go to use the form, you can see it and use it.

Disabled

Disabled forms cannot be seen or used on the RLD Input App. They can only be seen by the author of the form inside the editor.

Why use Enabled/Disabled?

You may want to roll out new forms without having to edit or disrupt use of the old one. In this case you can copy your old form, disable the copy, and begin working on and testing the new form. Once you're done you can enable the new form and disable the old one. To your users everything seems normal the only difference will be the changes you made.

Deleting an Input Form

Deleting an input form is irreversible. Once an input form has been deleted it can't be undone unless you have Exported it (See below) or a copy has been made.

Cloning an Input Form

Cloning an input form makes a complete copy of the form that can be edited independently from the original.

The elements inside the form are exactly the same and will show up the same in the database, they will not show up as new fields.

Why clone an input form

Similar to Why use Enabled/Disabled (above), you may want to roll out new forms without having to edit or disrupt the use of the old one. With RLD you are able to copy the form and change the copy independently from the old. It also allows you to create forms with the same information for different form factors, one for a phone, another for a tablet.
